Montoir-de-Bretagne
Cargill has had a presence in Montoir-de-Bretagne since 2008, when the site was developed. We currently employ 40 people.
The Cargill plant at Montoir specialises in the processing of rapeseed and it has helped increase the oilseeds product offering provided by Saint-Nazaire (sunflower).
The oil produced at Montoir is mainly destined for the Diester Atlantique biodiesel plant, located nearby. This partnership allows us to participate in meeting government targets promoting the use of biofuels in France; 7% from 2010 and reaching 10% by 2020.
The rapeseed feed cakes, are used in the animal feed industry.
The Cargill site in Montoir has had a dual impact on local agriculture. On the one hand, it provides a new outlet to the local producers of rapeseed. Almost 80% of the 850,000 tonnes of rapeseed ground in Montoir effectively come from the surrounding areas of Brittany, the Pays de la Loire and the Centre and Poitou-Charentes. On the other hand, the rapeseed feed cakes, sold to the regional animal feed industries allow breeders and milk producers to procure a new source of plant protein for their cattle.
In Montoir-de-Bretagne, Cargill produces:
- Rapeseed oil
- Feed cakes for animal feed
